Fishing Regulations - Please seek more exact and up to date information from the local fishing tackle shop in Argenton-Sur-Creuse.

Fishing licences
Full Authorised to fish 2nd category with 4 rods (managed lakes, dams and running water) and 1st category with 2 rods (managed lakes) or 1 cane (running water)

Reduced Tax Authorised to fish only 2nd category with 4 rods excluding spin fishing, fly, live bait, basket and trap

Holiday Authorised to fish as in full tax licence valid on receipt for 15 consecutive days from 1 June to 30 September

Daily Available only from certain places. For conditions contact the Departmental Fishing Federation

Young Angler As for the Full Licence but for young anglers up to 16 years of age

Free Young Angler Authorised for match fishing up to 16 years of age

Where to obtain them?
The nearest fishing tackle shop is in Argenton-Sur-Creuse. Also try cafes, hotels that are close to fishing areas and fishing tackle shops, tourist offices, town halls etc….

1st category – running water & managed lakes - March 11 - September 17

2nd category – running water & managed lakes - Angling All year


NOTE: Motorised fishing or fishing with nets is prohibited. It is also prohibited to fish for all species in the part of the river “La Grande Creuse” (from the bridge at Bourg d’Hem and the dyke belonging to the Syndicat Intercommunal de la vallée de la Creuse drinkable water station).

REGULATIONS
1st category managed lakes: On managed lakes used for the supply of drinking water, maggot fishing and all bait fishing is prohibited. On other managed lakes maggot fishing is permitted. Prohibition to scatter grain or to introduce it into the bait.

1st category running water: Maggots are permitted without grain scattering or being in the bait in some sections of running water. Take the advice of the tackle shop for more precise guidance.

2nd category managed lakes and dams
During the closure of the pike season, 26 Jan to 7 May, any type of lure that is susceptible to non-accidentally catching pike are prohibited except on the Chézelles dam and upstream from the Eguzon dam from the “Puy Guillon” foot bridge (Petite Creuse), le Pont de Vervy (Grande Creuse) up to the confluence of the two water courses.

Any pike accidentally caught must be released back into the water.

From the 26 Jan to 7 May fishing for pike and zander is prohibited on the Rochebut Dam.

2nd category managed lakes:
During the closure of the pike season, 26 Jan to 7 May, fishing for trout with dead or artificial, live, fly and other lures is authorised 13 March to 7 may.
Caught pikes must be returned to the water.

 

 

 

NIGHT CARP FISHING
Night carp fishing is authorised on Combes, Champsanglard, Faux la Montagne and Lavaud Gelade dams, when reserved with the Federation and in marked areas.

Prohibitied: Courtille, Etang des Landes


PERMITTED SIZE OF CAUGHT TROUT
23 cm in 1st and 2nd category except for certain zones (see map) in the south of the department where the limit is 20 cm
The catch is limited to 6 per angler per day.
